Don’t look now, but Iowa is starting to roll in the Cy-Hawk game.

Spencer Petras led the Hawkeyes to a 71-yard touchdown drive before halftime to extend the Iowa lead to 14-3. Petras found Charlie Jones for a 26-yard touchdown pass with 1:01 left in the second quarter.

It was a slow first quarter of the Cy-Hawk matchup, but things picked up in the second quarter with 2 Iowa touchdowns — one of which coming after an interception by Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy. That pick was grabbed in incredible fashion by Iowa’s Matt Hankins, setting up the first touchdown of the game.

Iowa State marched down the field and answered back with 7 seconds left in the first half to cut the Hawkeye lead to 14-10. One thing’s for sure, though. The Cy-Hawk game is starting to live up to the billing.
