Illinois head coach Bret Bielema has set his plan for the 2022 recruiting class and it includes getting a big chunk of high school recruits and transfers from different schools.
Bielema plans to add 15-20 recruits from high schools for this next class, plus up to 10 transfers from colleges, according to Jeremy Werner from 247Sports.
#illini Bret Bielema said the goal in the Class of 2022 is to get 15-20 preps and up to 10 transfers.
Had planned all along that NCAA would increase scholarships to 30+. Reported proposal is up to 32 if seven transfers leave after fall season.

Bielema also sounds like he had a feeling that the NCAA would increase scholarships for a year after the report about it came out on Tuesday.
Coaches will now be able to replace any 7 players who leave for the transfer portal to get their recruiting class up to 32. This is strictly for the December signing period and if it goes well, we could see it implemented again for future signing periods, but with some changes.
We’ll have to see if Illinois’ recruiting gets better with these changes, though Bielema has always been a strong recruiter throughout his coaching career.
