It took a while, but Illinois finally got back in the win column over the weekend.

After dropping 4 straight games, the Illini picked up a 24-14 win over Charlotte. That brings Illinois to 2-4 on the year in Bret Bielema’s first year as head coach.

The star of the game was running back Chase Brown. He took over in a memorable fashion against Charlotte, rushing for 257 yards on 26 carries with 2 TDs.

With that kind of performance, it is no surprise Illinois selected him as an Offensive Player of the Week. Brown was also joined by OL Vederian Lowe with Lowe also landing on PFF’s Team of the Week on Sunday.

Illinois also selected Kerby Joseph, Owen Carney Jr., and Donny Navarro III as Players of the Week. Check it out:

It was good to get a win, and the Illini now jump back into conference play with a game against Wisconsin in Week 6. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 3:30 pm EST on BTN.
