After flirting with the NFL and interviewing for the head coaching position of the Minnesota Vikings, Jim Harbaugh is reportedly returning to Ann Arbor for 2022.

That report is per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. According to Schefter, Harbaugh called Michigan to inform the school that he would be returning to the Wolverines for 2022.

Not only that, Schefter added that Harbaugh informed Michigan AD Warde Manuel interviewing for NFL openings will not be a reoccurring issue. Harbaugh reportedly told Manuel he’ll be at Michigan for as long as Manuel wants him there.

The change of events is surprising following a Tuesday report that indicated Harbaugh was planning to accept the job with the Vikings. Another story from Tuesday shed light on Harbaugh’s message to a 2022 recruit for Michigan heading into his interview that hinted at a return to the NFL.

Instead of the NFL, Harbaugh will be back in Ann Arbor to try and build off his best season with the Wolverines. In 2021, Harbaugh and company captured the B1G, beat Ohio State and advanced to the program’s first-ever College Football Playoff appearance.
