James Franklin and Penn State are looking for a big season in 2022. The Nittany Lions went a mediocre 7-6 (4-5 B1G) last season.

Will that turn with some of the young players this season? Head coach James Franklin might have indicated that point with freshman running back Kaytron Allen. The young RB has looked strong in practice for Penn State.

Allen was a 4-star RB out of powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. The 5-foot-11, 211-pound back totaled over 1,400 yards and 27 total touchdowns as a senior. Allen choose Penn State over offers Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Michigan State.

The Nittany Lions also have junior Keyvone Lee and freshman Nicholas Singleton on their depth chart. Lee rushed for 508 yards and 2 touchdowns on 108 attempts last season. Singleton was a 5-star recruit out Reading, PA.

The praise by Franklin on Allen could be a good sign for Penn State. It thus appears the Nittany Lions have some depth at the position.

Penn State opens at Purdue this Thursday.
