Michigan State’s Jacoby Windmon put on one of the most incredible performances of the Week 1 slate. The Spartan linebacker won the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week Award for his 7 tackle, 4-sack performance against Western Michigan Friday.

Head coach Mel Tucker says he’s one of the few positives from Michigan State’s 35-13 win over Western Michigan.

“He’s a very unselfish player. We asked him to move to DE a couple weeks ago, maybe not even that long. He said, ‘Coach, whatever I can do for the team, I’m willing to do that.'”

Windmon comes to Michigan State via UNLV. He was a star there, posting 119 tackles. For those counting at home, that’s the 13th most in the NCAA last season and the third most in the Mountain West.

Across his career he has amassed 176 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks.

Windmon and the Spartans are back in action Saturday against Akron at 4 pm EST on the Big Ten Network.
