Drew Allar has been getting talked about a lot in his first season at Penn State. A stat was posted on Twitter of the true freshman passing attempt numbers for many prominent QBs in college football.

Names like C.J. Stroud, Quinn Ewers, and Hendon Hooker all did not have any pass attempts as true freshmen. The only quarterbacks that had more passing attempts than Allar were J.J. McCarthy (59) and Caleb Williams (211).

Allar has attempted 31 passes so far this season, which is a good sign when compared to the other names on the list. Allar has had more passing attempts than Bryce Young and Drake Maye in their first seasons.

Allar has played in six games for the Nittany Lions so far. From those games, he has 209 yards passing and 2 touchdowns.

The expectations are high for Allar, as he was a 5-star commit out of the 2022 class per the 247Sports Composite. The playing time that he has gotten could really benefit him in the long run.

James Franklin stated that the team is going to go with the QB that gives them the best chance to go 1-0 this week. We’ll see if Allar gets his chance.
