Chez Mellusi receives positive status update heading into Week 12 practices

Chez Mellusi may indeed return to action for Wisconsin in Week 12’s game against Nebraska. Though Jim Leonhard has not yet spoken on Mellusi’s status for the week, the team’s preliminary injury report for Week 12 is very clean.
According to that status report, OLB Aaron Witt is the only injured player listed as out that has not sustained a season-ending injury. That means Mellusi — injured in the win over Northwestern — could return to the field against the Huskers.

Last week, Leonhard hinted that Mellusi was a candidate to return to action this season. In fact, Leonhard cited a “strong possibility” that Mellusi was back before the season’s end.
Mellusi has 248 yards of offense and 2 touchdowns this season serving as the backup to Braelon Allen. Isaac Guerendo has been impressive at moments in the backfield, rushing for 303 yards with 6 offensive touchdowns this season.
Even with the work of Guerendo, the Badgers would love to have the complete backfield as the team tries to push for bowl eligibility in the final 2 games.
