Zak Herbstreit was a part of some troubling news Tuesday after it was reported he was hospitalized in Columbus.

He later said in a statement through his father, ESPN broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit, that the hospitalization came after “not feeling right” and recent test results from Friday. Zak did not release many details about his condition but indicated he had “the best cardiologists looking after me.”

Fortunately, Zak’s stay in the hospital is reportedly over. According to Nathan Baird with Cleveland.com, an Ohio State football spokesperson said that the tight end was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

Hopefully, the younger Herbstreit is on a smooth road to recovery, but it is worth noting Kirk Herbstreit said his son “has a long journey ahead of him” while sharing Zak’s statement from Tuesday. Both Kirk and Zak expressed gratitude and appreciation for the care shown during this situation.

Zak Herbstreit joined the Buckeyes as a preferred walk-on in the summer of 2021 out of Montgomery Bell Academy in Tennessee.
