Cade McNamara is Iowa’s starting quarterback after transferring in from Michigan, but he went down with an apparent injury during Saturday’s scrimmage.

According to reports from the scrimmage, McNamara went down with an apparent injury after scrambling. He immediately removed himself from play after the incident and quickly went to the locker room to be evaluated.

A brief clip of the scramble was shared via Jack Lido of KCRG-TV9, and the apparent injury looked to be non-contact. Iowa fans will certainly be holding their breath for a positive update after that fall.

While fans wait for more information, the concern will certainly be that McNamara has reinjured something in his knee. It was a knee injury and eventual surgery that sidelined McNamara after 3 games in the 2022 season.

McNamara received an all-clear to begin Iowa’s spring session and has been praised from inside the program for his work with the Hawkeyes. He also said recently the start of his time in Iowa City has been “the best 7 months of my life.”

Hopefully, whatever occurred Saturday is only a minor setback with McNamara poised to play a major role for the Hawkeyes.
