Michigan State is coming off a rough season and preparing to head into the Jonathan Smith era in East Lansing. One area that might need immediate attention is the quarterback room.
Prior to Tuesday, it was already reported that QBs Sam Leavitt and Katin Houser planned to hit the transfer portal. Now, another member of the QB room is expected to hit the portal.
According to Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz with 247 Sports, MSU QB Noah Kim has also entered the transfer portal. Kim began the year as the starting QB for the Spartans but battled injuries and inconsistency with the offense.
Per Chris Solari with the Detroit Free Press, Kim was the final scholarship QB on the fall roster to hit the portal. Kim’s decision leaves the Spartans with walk-on QB Andrew Schorfhaar as the only QB to complete a pass this season not in the portal.
MSU’s three scholarship QBs from this fall are all announced in the past two days they are hitting the portal. That leaves walk-ons Andrew Schorfhaar and QB-turned-WR-returned-to-QB Zach Gillespie on the roster. https://t.co/eNeeoxdEwZ

With Kim, Houser and Leavitt in the portal, Schorfhaar (who went 2-for-2 for -3 yards) and wide receiver Alante Brown (1-for-1 for 42 yards) are the only other Spartans to complete a pass in 2023. We’ll see who winds up taking snaps for Smith’s first season in East Lansing, but it will be an offseason of change for the program.
