Curt Cignetti moved from James Madison to Indiana and he’s flipping some recruits that had committed to his former program.

Cignetti secured the commitment of former James Madison commit Alberto Mendoza to Indiana on Monday. Mendoza decommitted from the Dukes on Dec. 3, shortly after Cignetti was announced as the head coach at Indiana.

Mendoza is a 3-star quarterback in the 2024 class out of Columbus High School in Miami, Florida. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. The 247Sports Composite ranks Mendoza as the No. 85 QB in his class. It’s worth noting that Mendoza recently visited Bloomington on Dec. 8.

The Hoosiers now have their 1st quarterback verbally committed from the 2024 class under Cignetti.

Indiana let go of Tom Allen after missing the postseason for the 3rd straight year. The Hoosiers finished with a 3-9 record. The team ended the year on a 3-game losing streak.

Fans will be hoping that Cignetti can have similar success to that of his time with James Madison. Here’s a highlight tape of Mendoza:
