A betting line no one would have seen coming as recently as weeks ago has now gone live at one online sportsbook.
MyBookie is now offers bettors to opportunity to wager on whether Urban Meyer coaches Ohio State’s first game. The online sportsbook has posted odds for whether Meyer will be fired (-200 Yes, +160 No), resign (-150 Yes, +120 No) and whether he would cite health issues in his resignation (+200 Yes, -300 No).
For those unfamiliar with betting lines, the values are in relation to $100 bets. A +160 indicates a $100 bet would win $160 (for a payout of $260). On the flip side, -200 means a bettor would have to wager $200 to win $100 on the bet (for a total payout of $300).
The existence of the betting line alone is shocking due to Meyer’s reputation as one of college football’s best active coaches and Ohio State’s expectations of competing for a Big Ten title and College Football Playoff championship in 2018. But a damning new report seems to expose Meyer in a lie regarding what he knew about former assistant coach Zach Smith’s history of alleged domestic abuse. At least one national reporter has interpreted it as “telling” that neither OSU nor Meyer have publicly commented on the matter.
