USC is looking to keep its solid start to the 2024 season rolling in Week 6. The Trojans will be on the road at Minnesota, but they will be missing a leader on defense for this one.

USC confirmed with the pre-game availability report that leading tackler Eric Gentry will be out this week against the Golden Gophers. He leads the team in every major category with 30 total tackles, 22 solo stops, 6.5 TFLs and 2 sacks. Gentry also has a pass breakup and a forced fumble in 4 games.

The good news is USC might get defensive back Akili Arnold and wide receiver Makai Lemon back in the lineup. Both players were listed as questionable, so we’ll see if they can go against Minnesota.

Arnold missed last week’s game against Wisconsin and has 13 total tackles, a pass breakup and half of a sack this season. Lemon has 4 catches for 45 yards and a touchdown and is also a contributor on special teams.

Lemon’s situation was particularly worrisome after he left the Michigan game and was later taken to the hospital for evaluation. He was fortunate to avoid a long-term situation, so hopefully he can be back on the field this week.

Star tight end Lake McRee was also injured in the Michigan game, and he remains listed as out. USC remains hopeful McRee will return at some point this season.
