A Tennessee cornerback was arrested and jailed overnight on Saturday on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge, but some of the threats he made were of a very serious nature, according to a report.
On Sunday, the Knoxville News Sentinel‘s Mike Wilson reported that Bryce Thompson was arrested and jailed overnight following an argument with a woman in a University of Tennessee residence hall on campus. Thompson reportedly told the woman he would “slap the (expletive)” out of her.
Multiple people also say they heard the cornerback say he would “shoot up the school” during the argument.
The University of Tennessee issued a statement on the issue:
We are aware of the situation and are waiting for additional information while the appropriate processes take place.
Thompson was “extremely upset and agitated” when police arrived on the scene. The woman he was arguing with is one he had had a relationship with for four years, according to both parties.
