In the Big Ten, it’s about more than just football.

Of course, winning games on the gridiron is great. But for those student-athletes that don’t end up making millions playing professionally, what do they have to fall back on?

Academics.

At Iowa, Kirk Ferentz is starting a cool new tradition that helps honors those that are taking academics seriously:

This is pretty awesome. Ten players that have already graduated from Iowa — but are still on the football team — will have helmet decals representing their academic excellence.

Again, it’s about more than just about football in the B1G. And arguably, that’s what makes it the best conference in the country.
