When you’re in the middle of a tight game, you’ll do just about anything to win. For Nebraska tight end Jack Stoll, that meant selling an offsides penalty in the third quarter of Friday’s game against Iowa.
Trailing 24-10 in the third quarter, Nebraska had the ball and was looking to get across the goal line again to close the gap on the Hawkeyes. Defensive end A.J. Epenesa jumped across the line a little before the snap, making slight contact with Stoll.
As every good actor would do, though, he sold the contact. Stoll made it look like he took a shot from a cannon ball, flopping backward after Epenesa made contact.
Below is the play focused on the contact and the flop:

Hey, whatever it takes, right?
That play then set up a 39-yard touchdown pass from Luke McCaffrey to JD Spielman to make the score 24-17. It was a huge moment in the third quarter.
Nebraska needs a win over Iowa to snap a four-game skid against the Hawkeyes and get to 6-6 on the season, which would get the Huskers to a bowl game. Looks like they’re willing to do anything they need to in order to get a win.
