The savior is back. Rutgers football will be back to the dominant state — albeit a short one — that it once had. That’s what Scarlet Knight fans feel now that head coach Greg Schiano is back to take over the program.

The feel around Rutgers is a positive one no matter where you go. The classroom, the football stadium, the basketball arena — it doesn’t matter. Speaking of basketball, Rutgers hosted Seton Hall Saturday afternoon and Schiano made an appearance at the game.

The fans, of course, went crazy:

It seemed like every person there was standing and cheering. Everyone just wants to see Schiano. They want football to be relevant again. Because quite frankly, for the last few years, it hasn’t been.

Back in 2006, Rutgers reached as high as No. 7 in the AP Poll. That’s what Scarlet Knight fans are hoping for once again under Schiano.
