These two former B1G players have a special connection in the NFL.
Purdue’s Drew Brees and Ohio State’s Michael Thomas have been together with the New Orleans Saints since 2016. That is when Thomas joined the Saints as a second-round pick.
Since that time, the duo has combined to break some pretty impressive records. That includes this past week when Brees officially vaulted into the top spot on the NFL’s career list for passing touchdowns.

On Sunday, it was Thomas’ turn as he was zeroing in on the single-season record for receptions. He officially broke the record with 12 catches, eclipsing Marvin Harrison’s record of 143 for a season.

Following the game, Brees was asked about Thomas’ work. He had a number of strong things to say about the wideout, praising him as a hard worker and model of perfection:
“There’s nobody that deserves it more, there’s nobody that works harder for it,” said Brees. “What you see out here on Sundays is the culmination of so much hard work during the week. Every rep to this guy is a Super Bowl rep, that’s what I love about him. He’s such a model for perfection and how to be a pro.”
Thomas shared similar sentiments, calling Brees a “blessing:”
“This guy’s a blessing to play with. He leads by example since the first day I got here. I just follow his lead,” explained Thomas.
