Paul Finebaum: ‘No chance’ B1G reverses decision on football, fall sports

Paul Finebaum squashed the little bit of hope B1G fans had left on the conference potentially reversing its decision to cancel the college football season, as well as other fall sports.

Over the last week, players, parents, coaches and fans have spoken out about the B1G’s rash decision to cancel football for the fall — becoming the first Power 5 league to make the move on 2020 sports. Parents have written letters to the commissioner’s office and a petition created by Justin Fields calling for a reconsideration has surpassed 250,000 votes in just a few days.

In a report from Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch on Monday night, prominent college athletics attorney Tom Mars said he believes Fields’ petition could potentially have a big impact on the decision-makers within the conference.

Finebaum does not feel the same.

“You’re not going back on this,” Finebaum said on Get Up. “This was a vote of the presidents. Exactly what the vote was — whether it was 12-2 or closer nobody is certain of that. It’s ultimately up to Kevin Warren to finally come out of his cave and show some transparency here, which he has not. But there will not be another vote because this is written in concrete, no matter what everyone says.”

The B1G, commissioner Kevin Warren and the conference’s 14 presidents have provided very few answers behind the decision to cancel football this fall. That, perhaps even more than the decision, has been extremely frustrating for players, parents and coaches.
