It’s been a long, hard offseason for Iowa fans, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel in the form of football.
In addition to dealing with the pandemic and tackling social justice issues, Iowa was hit with a derecho back in August that impacted thousands of homes.
The Hawkeyes’ Week 1 hype video reflects that level of adversity and recognizes that many of its communities have changed:
A new us.
A better us.

“For Hawkeyes, this is an opportunity,” the video says, “to rise again. Not to who we were before, but a new us. A better us. Together as one.”
On the field, Iowa returns a loaded offense that will be lead by new quarterback Spencer Petras.
The Hawkeyes will look to extend their streak of six straight season-opening wins when it faces Purdue on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
