Minnesota’s defense appeared to have Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa down in the backfield for a big sack. But when the first-year starter for the Terps turned on the jetpack, he wasn’t going to be caught by anyone.
Tagovailoa turned what appeared to be a guaranteed sack into a 39-yard touchdown run for the Terps. It was the team’s second drive of the game, meaning Maryland scored on each of its first two possessions.
Last week, Maryland didn’t get into the end zone at all against Northwestern in a 43-3 loss.
Here’s Tagovailoa showing off his incredible mobility on his way to the end zone:

Through the first two drives, Tagovailoa complete 6-of-7 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown — an 8-yard strike to Jake Funk. He also had 3 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown.
It’s a much better start for Maryland and head coach Mike Locksley than a week ago.
