Penn State coaches and teammates react to Journey Brown’s retirement

Journey Brown’s football career is officially over with Brown announcing his retirement Wednesday evening.
In reality, head coach James Franklin was the first to break the news during his press conference. Without getting into details, Franklin said Brown would be unable to return to football action this season or in the future.
Brown quickly followed Franklin’s announcement with his personal statement, revealing that he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy during the offseason. That is a rare heart condition that forced Brown to after just two seasons with the Nittany Lions.
That is an undeniably tough blow for anyone to deal with, especially for a player and person of Brown’s character. Following his announcement, many coaches and current and former teammates reacted to Brown’s news on social media:
I love you @JourneyBrown6 you taught me so much on how to handle adversity. I will always be by your side till the good Lord take me off this earth. https://t.co/48AK1968YQ pic.twitter.com/NJ596UGe4h

As good of a person, let alone a player, that I’ve ever met. We’ve all learned so much from you, Journey. If anyone will be able to persevere through this, it is you. I never had a doubt that you were destined for greatness, and you still are. Always got your back. Much love ❤️ https://t.co/U7lNCGhbwM

Hopefully Brown’s teammates will continue to rally around him as he deals with this unfortunate news and begins to move forward.
