Nebraska’s Collin Miller embracing new role after suffering scary injury

Nebraska linebacker Collin Miller suffered an injury during the second half of the Huskers game with Illinois.
Miller was hurt early in the fourth quarter while tackling Illinois running back Mike Epstein. He was taken off the field on a stretcher and hospitalized overnight. The senior captain is the Cornhuskers’ fourth-leading tackler.
The report on Miller’s condition stated he suffered a spinal concussion, which is characterized by a temporary sensory impairment and motor weakness.
As captains should do, Miller reportely showed up to early meetings the following Monday morning, and had a practice script in hand while on the practice field.
Nick Henrich asked about Miller and almost immediately cracks a smile.
"I already thought the world of his character before the injury, but this has just made me respect him more as a guy," Henrich said.

Reports are that Miller won’t likely play again this season, but NU defensive coordinator Erik Chinander said trainers will have to make the determination. Miller’s status for now is that of a coach that will travel with the team Saturday to Purdue, just as he did to Iowa.
The Huskers have made adjustments to fill Miller’s spot, with Luke Reimer assuming the roles as a starter, and Nick Henrich moving back inside.
Nebraska heads to West Lafayette, Indiana to face Purdue on Saturday, Dec. 5 – kickoff is scheduled for 11:00AM.
