Rutgers coach Greg Schiano couldn’t hold back the pride in his team after the Scarlet Knights’ 27-24 overtime win over Maryland on Saturday.
The social media team at Rutgers put out a short clip of Schiano’s message to the team after the game.
“You did it. I said it was going to take you. You. It wasn’t going to be somebody else, it was going to be you,” Schiano said in the video. “We got a whole bunch of you’s, a whole bunch of you’s who did it. I can’t tell you how proud I am of the way you fought today. There were so many chances you could have said, “it ain’t today, it ain’t our day.’ I am so proud of you guys.”

It was an emotional week for the Scarlet Knights, as Schiano revealed after the game that multiple players lost loved ones prior to Saturday.
This was Rutgers’ third win on the season, which is a tremendous accomplishment for a team that has won three games combined the last two years, including nonconference play.
The Scarlet Knights also finished the regular season above Michigan and Michigan State in the Big Ten East standings.
Rutgers’ Week 9 opponent is expected to be announced on Sunday.
