‘There’s not as much tape to pour through’: Dabo Swinney continues to throw shade at Ohio State’s 6-game schedule

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney just can’t help himself.

Swinney mocked Ohio State’s six-game schedule in an interview on the ACC Network on Monday morning.

“That’ll be a quick study for us, because there’s only six [games],” Swinney said on the Packer & Durham show. “So that’ll be a little easier. Typically you’re going into these games, you’ve got 13 games to study so it won’t be as daunting of a task there.”

Ohio State only played six games compared to the standard 13 and Clemson’s 11 this year, but it wasn’t all OSU’s fault. The Buckeyes had two games canceled due to COVID-19 outbreaks within other programs.

Swinney was asked to clarify what he meant by saying it would be “easier” to prep for the Sugar Bowl this year.

“From a process standpoint, absolutely [it’s easier],” Swinney said. “Because like I said, typically, you have 13 games. They’re going to have to study 11 games. You’ve got to study every play, offense, defense, special teams … It does make it a little easier because there’s not as much tape to pour through. You can’t make it up. There’s only six games.

This is not the first time Swinney has given Ohio State some bulletin board material on Monday morning. He ranked the Buckeyes No. 11 on his final Coaches Poll, despite the CFP slotting them in at No. 3.

These two teams will meet in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 2021.
