Illinois will be without its best player for Thursday night’s contest against Nebraska.

Ayo Dosunmu will miss Thursday’s contest against the Huskers after suffering a broken nose earlier this week against Michigan State. Jeremy Werner of Illini Inquirer reported on the news, stating that the Illini have not provided a timetable on Dosunmu’s return from the injury.

Brian Hamilton of The Athletic was first to report that Dosunmu suffered a broken nose in Illinois’ 81-72 loss to Michigan State. He has been fitted for a mask, but until this afternoon, it was uncertain whether or not the star would be on the floor for Thursday’s game.

Dosunmu was clutch for the Illini two weeks ago during the team’s road visit to Nebraska. Trailing late, Dosunmu scored a bevy of buckets to force the game to overtime and Illinois was able to survive a scare, defeating the Huskers 77-72.

Dosunmu ended that game with 31 points on 12-of-23 shooting and dished 6 assists in the win.

This season, Dosunmu is averaging a team-high 21 points per game and is also the leading assist man with 5.3 dimes per contest. Illinois had been on a seven-game winning streak until suffering the loss to the Spartans on Tuesday.

Thursday’s game is set for a 7 p.m. ET tip with broadcast coverage on Big Ten Network.
