Week 1 had some strong performances on display!

The 2019 season is officially underway, and the B1G looked solid over the weekend. Only two teams, Northwestern and Purdue, dropped their openers with every other team producing wins. Some were even down-right dominant.

After breaking down the Week 1 action, PFF College Football released its national Team of the Week Sunday. It is certainly an impressive group of players from around the country, and 4 B1G players received the honor.

They are:

  • Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
  • Wyatt Davis, OG, Ohio State
  • Jacob Panasiuk, EDGE, Michigan State
  • Eric Lee Jr., S, Nebraska

Here’s what they had to say about Bateman (analysis by Cam Mellor):

Bateman had arguably the ‘Catch of the Year’ with his one-handed grab against South Dakota State as he’s proven to be a more-than-formidable counterpart for Tyler Johnson in the Minnesota offense. He finished with 132 yards on five receptions as all of his catches either moved the chains or scored a touchdown.

On Lee, who had a pick-6 for the Cornhuskers:

Seeing three passes come his way as the primary coverage defender, Lee made two interceptions just like his counterpart on this list. He allowed an 11.1 passer rating on those throws and stuck his nose in on run defense with an additional defensive stop for the Cornhuskers.
