Primetime to Power 5 could be official in the coming days.

According to Justin Adams of CBS News Colorado, the Buffaloes are planning to offer Jackson State coach Deion Sanders an annual salary of $5 million per season.

Sanders has been the front-runner for the job for the past several weeks and confirmed he was offered the position on Monday

Sanders, a Hall of Fame defensive back at both the NFL and college level, led the Tigers to an 11-0 record this year and will face Southern University in the SWAC Championship Game on Saturday. Should Jackson State defeat the Jaguars, Sanders would’ve led the Tigers to their first undefeated season in program history.

Last season, Jackson State finished 11-2. Since being hired in 2020, Sanders has led the Tigers to a 26-5 record.

With the addition of Prime, Colorado would look to return to its 1990s glory. The Buffaloes fired Karl Dorrell after less than 3 seasons at the helm. Dorrell, who served as Colorado’s offensive coordinator from 1995-98, started the season 0-5 before being relieved of his duties.

Will Sanders be heading to a Power 5 school soon?
