ESPN's FPI predicts outcome of Michigan-Nebraska in Week 5
ESPN’s FPI has weighed in on Michigan’s first road trip of the season and a showdown against Nebraska in Lincoln.
Though the Wolverines have failed to impress at times, Jim Harbaugh’s squad is still 4-0 to begin the season. Most recently, Michigan brushed off a sluggish start against Rutgers to roll to a 31-7 win.
On the other side, Nebraska is 2-2 and reached .500 after a win against Louisiana Tech. Matt Rhule and the Huskers have a number of areas to clean up, but he has at least secured wins in the games against lesser opponents to begin the season.
Heading into the matchup, Michigan will be a massive favorite in Memorial Stadium, and the FPI gives the Wolverines an 87.6% chance of improving to 5-0. Michigan is also the betting favorite at -17 with an over/under of 40 set for the matchup. Fans looking to get in on the action can use our DraftKings Michigan promo code to get started!
Heading into the game, a big story to keep an eye on will be the health of Nebraska’s quarterback room. Jeff Sims is still working his way back from an ankle injury and Heinrich Haarberg left the win over Lousiana Tech late in the game. Fortunately, Haarberg was active in the latest practice and looks promising for Week 5.
While Nebraska maintains a healthy respect for Harbaugh’s program, it will be tough for the Huskers to match up with the Wolverines and pull off the upset. Saturday’s game is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
