ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt is always an interesting host, and he gave two B1G picks against the spread as only he can!

He started off with Penn State’s trip into East Lansing. The Nittany Lions are undefeated but are coming off two hard-fought wins against ranked opponents: on the road at Iowa and at home against Michigan.

According to SVP, Saturday’s game – which may feature some wet weather – is the kind of fight Mark Dantonio loves to see. He labeled the game as a “rock fight” and picked the Spartans to cover:

“Michigan State +6 at home vs Penn State. Maybe a little bit of rain,” said Van Pelt. “Either way, this is exactly what Coach D wants. It’s going to be a rock fight. Spartans +6.”

SVP also decided to give a pick in Wisconsin’s road trip to Ohio State. Unfortunately, he admitted that he hasn’t had good luck in picking Ohio State games against the spread. While he admitted to being a “hard-headed dope,” he couldn’t resist taking the Badgers to cover:

“Who is the most hard-headed dope on television? This guy” exclaimed Van Pelt. “I have picked against Ohio State four times. They have outscored those opponents by 145, which is kind of a lot. We’re only getting 14.5 against the Badgers, and we’re taking them! What a dope.”
