After the clock struck zero in Tallahassee on Monday night, marking the end of the Virginia Tech-Florida State game and signaling the conclusion of the first full week of the college football season, Kirk Herbstreit had his top performers in mind.

Early Tuesday morning, the ESPN college football analyst took to Twitter to announce his Top 4 teams after Week 1, as well as name the top performances and performers.

The top performers and performances scattered across the nation, as so many players and teams impressed in their first outing. But Herbstreit was able to narrow both lists down to five.

Here’s how he ranked the best performances from teams in Week 1.

  1. LSU
  2. Auburn
  3. Virginia Tech
  4. Maryland
  5. West Virginia

And here’s who and where he ranked as the top player performers:

  1. Will Grier, QB, West Virginia
  2. McKenzie Milton, QB, UCF
  3. Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State
  4. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford
  5. Nick Coe, DE, Auburn

Week 1 is officially in the books. We’ll see if any of these players or teams can make Herbstreit’s list again in next weekend.
