History will be made in a few weeks when the San Francisco 49ers meet the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV.

Katie Sowers, an offensive assistant coach with the Niners, will become the first female coach to participate in a Super Bowl. She has been in the NFL for four seasons now, serving as an offensive assistant coach.

This year marks the second season that Sowers has been an offensive assistant with San Francisco. In 2017, she was with the team as a seasonal offensive assistant, according to her bio on 49ers.com. She was also with the Atlanta Falcons in a similar role in 2016.

Sowers was a member of the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA) for five seasons (2012-16) and was a member of  the 2013 United States Women’s National Football Team. Prior to joining the NFL, she was the athletic director for The City of Kansas City.

San Francisco and Kansas City will meet in the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 2.
