Pac-12 setting aside talks of morning kickoffs for now
Pac-12 Before Breakfast is getting put to the side, next to the orange juice for now.
Last month, the Pac-12 was hosting discussions about an early-morning kickoff option on the West Coast. Games would be at 12 p.m. ET, which is a pretty common kickoff time for the rest of the county. However, that would be a 9 a.m. start time on the West Coast.
It wasn’t a popular idea among Pac-12 coaches or fans in any part of the country. It would put a serious hamper on the #Pac12AfterDark event every week.

According to Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News, the morning kickoffs won’t be an option, at least this year:
The conference has opted against scheduling games this season at 9 a.m. PT/10 a.m. MT as a means of gaining exposure on the new FOX broadcast window.
Andrew Walker, head of communications for the Pac-12, said several schools are interested in playing early, but the conference couldn’t find “good options” over the coming three months.
The plan, Walker added, is to monitor whichever Big 12 and Big Ten games are slotted into the 9 a.m. window, then re-assess for next season.
It’ll be interesting to see if this picks up steam next offseason. But, for now, our #Pac12AfterDark is safe.
