Another unbeaten team fell in Week 10, leaving us with just 5 undefeated FBS teams remaining. Seven ranked teams lost to lower-ranked or unranked teams. But I only had 1 team fall out of the ballot I submitted for Saturday Down South’s official top 25.

Here’s my top 25 entering Week 11.

1. Oregon (9-0)

Last week: 1

The 38 points Oregon put on Michigan in the Big House were the most any opponent has scored against the Wolverines all season. The Ducks lost their top wide receiver early and didn’t miss a beat. I’m keeping an eye on their injured right guard, but Oregon is rolling. I had the Ducks No. 2 in my preseason top 25, but I didn’t think the Ducks would get through their debut Big Ten season unbeaten. That’s the most likely scenario now.

2. Ohio State (7-1)

Last week: 6

Ohio State’s offensive line looked great in a 20-13 win over Penn State. The defensive front was also unyielding. Penn State had it first-and-goal from the Ohio State 3-yard-line twice and came away with 0 points from those 2 trips. The Buckeyes answered the call.

3. Georgia (7-1)

Last week: 2

This team alternates between looking like a mediocre bowl-bound team and looking like a true contender, and it’s pretty jarring. I have serious reservations about Carson Beck going forward. The Bulldogs’ quarterback has 11 interceptions in his last 5 games and the only outing he didn’t throw a pick happened to be the only game he didn’t attempt at least 40 passes. Georgia has to lean on him more than ever and he’s cracking under that pressure.

4. Miami (9-0)

Last week: 4

It was a weird week to blow up the “Miami hasn’t played anyone” narrative. It’s true that the Hurricanes’ schedule ranks 46th nationally, per FPI. But Miami has a road win over a Florida team that just took Georgia to the brink, and it has a road win over a Louisville team that just dominated Clemson. Miami is unbeaten; there are only 5 teams in the country that can claim that.

5. Indiana (9-0)

Last week: 5

It took 485 minutes and 2 seconds of football for a team to get a lead on Indiana. And that lead lasted for a quarter. Michigan State had a 10-0 lead on the Hoosiers in Kurtis Rourke’s return to the field. Indiana scored the final 47 points of the game to win their ninth game of the year by at least 14 points. Indiana, by the way, has played 9 games.

6. Notre Dame (7-1)

Last week: 7

The Irish are among the top 10 in SP+, FPI, and FEI. They’re also sixth nationally in Game on Paper‘s net adjusted EPA-per-play metric.

7. Texas (7-1)

Last week: 9

The Longhorns were on a bye in Week 10.

8. Penn State (7-1)

Last week: 3

Penn State is what Penn State has been. And probably what it will continue to be under James Franklin. The Nittany Lions had a chance at home to win the big one and instead became a “get right” spot for Ohio State.

9. Tennessee (7-1)

Last week: 13

Tailback Dylan Sampson is playing at a Heisman level, quarterback Nico Iamaleava looked wonderful in UT’s 28-18 win over Kentucky, and the defense hasn’t given up more than 19 points in a single game this season.

10. BYU (8-0)

Last week: 11

The Cougars were on a bye in Week 10.

11. SMU (8-1)

Last week: 21

At one point in the fourth quarter, SMU had a 48-11 lead on previously unbeaten Pitt. The Louisville win was a solid résumé-builder, but welcoming Pitt to Gerald J. Ford Stadium gave the Ponies their first real opportunity of the year to “prove it.” And they blew the doors off the Panthers. SMU is playing as well as anyone.

12. Ole Miss (7-2)

Last week: 17

The Rebels are fourth in SP+ and fourth in FEI. Lane Kiffin told his team last Friday they were 2 “very normal plays” away from being the No. 1 team in the country. After that message was delivered, Ole Miss went out and dropped 63 points on Arkansas.

13. Boise State (7-1)

Last week: 14

Boise jumped out to a 21-0 lead on San Diego State and never looked back. The Broncos have a 3-score win over a team that is currently ranked in the AP poll, and their only loss is a 3-point defeat on the road to the No. 1 team in the country.

14. Iowa State (7-1)

Last week: 12

The Cyclones suffered their first loss of the season at home, 23-22, to a wildly hot-and-cold Texas Tech team. The Red Raiders scored the game-winner with 20 seconds remaining.

15. Texas A&M (7-2)

Last week: 8

The Aggies saw a 7-game winning streak snapped by a South Carolina team that had been hunting that signature win. It’s a good loss; South Carolina is a good team with an outstanding defense. But it was pretty concerning to see the Gamecocks run over the A&M defense (286 yards, 6.7 per carry) the way they did.

16. LSU (6-2)

Last week: 15

The Tigers were on a bye in Week 10.

17. Clemson (6-2)

Last week: 10

As Clemson ripped off 6 straight victories, the quality of the schedule was understandably questioned. Warning signs popped up against Virginia but the Tigers pulled away in the third quarter. Then Louisville went into the fourth quarter with a 26-7 lead over the home side. And that result may have cost Clemson a spot in the ACC title game.

18. Alabama (6-2)

Last week: 18

The Crimson Tide were on a bye in Week 10.

19. Army (8-0)

Last week: 20

Army was without its starting quarterback, but still managed a 20-3 win over Air Force. The defense forced 3 turnovers while tailback Kanye Udoh stepped up to fill the rushing void. Junior Dewayne Coleman made his first career start in place of injured star quarterback Bryson Daily and didn’t have to throw a single pass in the second half.

20. Kansas State (7-2)

Last week: 16

A 24-19 loss to Houston was the worst defeat any of the ranked teams suffered in Week 10. The Cougars got shut out in back-to-back weeks earlier this season and lost 42-14 to a 2-6 Kansas team last month. Houston only threw 12 passes, got outgained by nearly 100 yards, and still won. This was a disappointing loss from the Wildcats’ perspective.

21. Colorado (6-2)

Last week: 22

The Buffs were on a bye in Week 10.

22. Louisville (6-3)

Last week: unranked

The Cards have 3 losses this season. All of them came by 7 points. All of them came to teams I currently have ranked in my top 11.

23. Washington State (7-1)

Last week: 23

The Cougars were on a bye in Week 10.

24. Tulane (7-2)

Last week: 24

Tulane extended its win streak to 6 games by blasting Charlotte 34-3 in a midweek road game. The Green Wave only have losses to Power conference teams, and they’re 13th in net adjusted EPA per play.

25. Louisiana (7-1)

Last week: 25

Louisiana beat Texas State on the road, 23-17, as an underdog. The Ragin’ Cajuns have won 5 in a row.
