Report: Ed Orgeron's time at LSU coming to an end after reaching separation agreement
It was a good Saturday for LSU football fans, pulling off an upset of No. 20 Florida in a 49-42 shootout at Tigers Stadium.
So that would be what everyone is talking about on Sunday, right?
But the Tigers are in the news on Sunday, but not for the big win. Reports have come out that head coach Ed Ogeron and the LSU administration have reached a separation agreement, keeping Ogeron in his position until the close of the season, without his returning in 2022.
#LSU and Ed Orgeron have reached a separation agreement: He will not return in 2022 but expected to complete this season, sources tell @SINow.
Negotiations began last week before UF win.
It’s unprecedented in the sport – coach & school divorcing 21 months after winning it all.

Heading into the game with the Gators, the Tigers have been playing .500 football following their blowout loss to Kentucky and speculation about changes in the head coaching spot have already been bouncing around.
Orgeron has been in his position as Tigers head coach for the last five full seasons, after having been the interim coach in 2016. The Tigers posted an undefeated season during their 2019 National Championship run, but are just 9-8 (7-6 SEC) since that season, posting a 2-3 record against Power Five opponents this season.
Next up for the Tigers, they travel to Mississippi to take on No. 13 Ole Miss on Saturday, Oct. 23.
