Week 3 was not necessarily a great week for the B1G.

After a strong first two weeks across the conference, Week 3 featured many close games and disappointing finishes throughout. Michigan State, Maryland, and Purdue were among the teams to lose to non-conference opponents. Penn State and Iowa were among teams to win against Power 5 rivals, though both won in close fashion.

Entering Week 4, B1G play ramps up even further with six teams entering conference action. While the conference race is a long way from being decided, it’s always a good time to see how the conference stacks up against other teams in the country.

One ranking system that is particularly interesting is the SP+ system put out by ESPN’s Bill Connelly. Following Week 3, the SP+ has Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, and LSU in the top four spots. Ohio State at No. 5 is the first B1G team.

Here are the B1G teams ranked in the top 25:

  • No. 5 – Ohio State
  • No. 7 – Wisconsin
  • No. 14 – Penn State
  • No. 16 – Michigan
  • No. 23 – Michigan State
  • No. 24 – Iowa
