Illinois just added a boost to the receiving corps for 2021.

Wide receiver Casey Washington revealed on Twitter Wednesday evening that he is returning to the program after previously transferring away. Washington spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons with the Illini before transferring to Wake Forest this offseason.

However, Washington re-entered the transfer portal in March. In his note shared on Twitter, Washington revealed that he has been cleared by the NCAA as eligible to participate in the 2021 season:

“Excited to announce that I have officially been cleared to play in the 2021 season by the NCAA,” wrote Washington. “Huge thanks to the man upstairs & everyone involved in this journey. Extremely grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to be back at Memorial Stadium.”

In two seasons at Illinois, Washington has 21 catches for 238 yards. He finished fourth on the team with 10 catches for 106 yards during the shortened 2020 campaign.
