Illinois locker room celebrates blowout of Rutgers, opportunity to play for bowl eligibility
Illinois has plenty to smile about after a 38-10 win over Rutgers.
The win pushes the Illini to a 5-4 record on the season, ensuring the best record ever for the team under Lovie Smith. That surpasses the four wins the team put up in 2018.
Now, Illinois will get the chance to play for bowl eligibility. The team has games remaining against Michigan State, Iowa, and Northwestern, needing just one win to get a bowl game.
After Saturday’s win, the locker room was all smiles. A three-game winning streak has shifted the season and jumpstarted the enthusiasm for everyone on board.

Smith admitted there would be time to breakdown the film for the Rutgers game, but they took a moment to celebrate what’s in store:
“We can talk a lot about this game, but you know what’s up next week? You know what we’re playing for? BOWL GAME,” said Smith.
Here’s the entire post-game scene in the locker room:
"You know what's up next week, right? You know what we're playing for?"
