The never-ending quarterback carousel continues to spin at Illinois.

On Friday, Illini head coach Lovie Smith said that freshman quarterback Cam Thomas “probably won’t play” against Indiana on Saturday. Thomas suffered an injury a week ago against Purdue.

No specification on the injury was made.

Thomas made his first of the season last weekend against the Boilermakers in West Lafayette. He completed 10-of-20 passes for 159 yards and added 30 rushing yards on 14 carries. On the season, the freshman is completing just 40 percent of his passes with three interceptions.

He has not accounted for a touchdown in three games this fall.

Jeff George Jr. will get the start for Illinois against the Hoosiers on Saturday. He’s been the most efficient passer for the Illini this season, throwing for 1,012 yards and five touchdowns on the year. Turnovers have been a problem, however, throwing eight picks in six games.

Indiana and Illinois are scheduled for a noon ET kickoff. The game will air on Big Ten Network.
