Reggie Corbin discusses pre-game moment with Lovie Smith, significance of playing RB at Illinois
Reggie Corbin wrapped up his Illinois career in the Redbox Bowl, and he shared his appreciation for head coach Lovie Smith afterward.
Though Corbin’s production took a step back in 2019, he still managed to rush for 634 yards and six touchdowns. For his career, he rushed for 2,320 yards and 17 touchdowns. Corbin finishes 12th on the all-time rushing list for the Illini.
After the game, Corbin said he told Smith how much he appreciates his head coach. Smith gave Corbin the opportunity to play running back in the B1G, something Corbin’s doubters did not see him accomplishing.

All things considered, Corbin had a strong and productive career with the Illini. He should definitely leave the program with his head held high.
