Brandon Peters won the starting Illinois job with a strong fall camp, and he is continuing that strong play in the season opener.

The Illini are taking on Akron in Week 1. They have also jumped all over the Zips early on. Reggie Corbin started the scoring just minutes into the game, and Peters tagged on to the lead in the second quarter.

Illinois was driving deep into Akron territory and starting the second quarter with a third down in the red zone. Peters dropped back and found Trevon Sidney in the back of the end zone with a 10-yard strike.
