Curt Cignetti pumps Indiana as 'emerging superpower' after contract extension
Curt Cignetti has had a historic first season with the Indiana Hoosiers. The coach has led the Hoosiers to their first 10-0 start in school history, and the team has achieved their highest ranking in 50 years.
The coach received a contract extension and raise this weekend due to the team’s incredible start. Cignetti appeared on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff on Saturday morning to discuss the extension and made it clear he had no intentions of leaving.

Cignetti acknowledged that some people may see him as a hot commodity and question why he wouldn’t wait to see what jobs open up this offseason.
“We’re the emerging superpower in college football. Why would I leave?” said the coach.
The coach also revealed that the Indiana administration approached him with the extension. Cignetti’s deal not only doubles his salary but also provides assurances about added resources for the program.
Indiana football is undoubtedly at a new level under Cignetti. At 10-0, the team is guaranteed to make a bowl for the first time since 2020. From 2021-23, the Hoosiers collected a 9-27 overall record. 2024 is the first time in school history that the team will end the season with double-digit wins.
Before coming to Indiana, Cignetti manned the helm at James Madison. The veteran coach helped successfully transition the Dukes to the FBS level, leading the team to a 19-4 record over their first two seasons at college football’s highest level.
