ESPN's SP+ projections have a really positive outlook for Indiana
There have been two Indiana teams we’ve seen so far this season. The first is the squad that went 3-0 in non-conference play, winning two of those games by five touchdowns or more. There’s also the Indiana team that got lost to Ohio State 51-10 in its B1G opener.
According to Bill Connelly’s SP+ projections, the first Indiana team may be the one we see for the rest of the year.
Per the projections, Indiana is predicted to win six games are more this season, with a 95 percent chance at being bowl eligible by the end of the year. The most likely finish for the Hoosiers, based on the projections, is either 7-5 or 8-4.
That’s a pretty solid year in Bloomington.
The latest @ESPN_BillC SP+ projections are quite bullish on IU. Ranked #32 with the most likely record split between 7-5 and 8-4. Currently projected for a 95% chance at 6+ wins. #iufb pic.twitter.com/wpJMylVAQj

There are plenty of winnable games remaining on Indiana’s schedule. With Michigan State and Michigan showing weaknesses early in the year, there doesn’t seem to be many games the Hoosiers will be completely out of.
Here is IU’s remaining schedule:
- at #25 Michigan State
- vs. Rutgers
- at Maryland
- at Nebraska
- vs. Northwestern
- at #12 Penn State
- vs. #20 Michigan
- at Purdue
Will the Hoosiers break through and finally get back to the find season? Things seem to be pointing in that direction after a 3-1 start.
