An Indiana freshman forward is considering other opportunities to continue his academic and athletic career.

Wednesday afternoon, Zach Osterman of the Indianapolis Star reported that forward Jake Forrester has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. The former three-star prospect just completed his freshman season with the Hoosiers.

Forrester has entered his name in the database, allowing him to explore other opportunities. He will also have the option to return to Indiana if that’s in his best interest.

A 6-foot-8, Pennsylvania native, Forrester was one of five members of Indiana’s 2018 recruiting class that included Romeo Langford, Jerome Hunter, Damezi Anderson and Robert Phinisee. With a roster loaded with young, incoming talent, Forrester didn’t see quite as much playing time as some of the other freshmen.

Forrester appeared in 13 games for the Hoosiers this season, averaging 4.3 minutes, 2.1 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. There was no mention of a potential destination for the freshman forward, should he choose to leave Bloomington.

Indiana finished the 2018-19 season with a 19-16 record and an appearance in the NIT Tournament. The Hoosiers won their first two games in the postseason, knocking off St. Francis (PA) and Arkansas before falling to Wichita State in the quarterfinals.
