Indiana's WRs working to be the best in the B1G: 'The offense runs through us'
When it comes to confidence, Indiana’s wide receiver group is not lacking anything.
The Hoosiers are looking to get back to bowl eligibility in their third season under head coach Tom Allen, and the wide receiver position brings talent and experience to the table. Indiana returns it’s top two receivers from 2018 in Nick Westbrook and Donavan Hale, along with Ty Fryfogle and Whop Philyor.
Obviously, the group still needs to execute when called upon. But according to Stefan Krajisnik with The Indy Star, position coach Grant Heard says the unit is talented and confident heading into the season. They have also put the work in during fall camp:
“There is a bunch of talent in this room,” wide receivers coach Grant Heard said. “The key is to get them to do it every play and every snap — be the best…if they do that, I think we have a chance to be one of the top in the country.”

Westbrook, a senior with 1,654 receiving yards and 11 TDs on his resume, is especially confident. He believes the Hoosiers’ offense will be sparked by the receivers, and he is focused on making that happen:
“The offense runs through us,” Westbrook said. “I’ve always remembered watching national championship games, and it’s always the receivers making plays that sparks the team.”
Indiana already boasts a strong running game led by Stevie Scott. Add in this group of receivers, and the missing component to a strong season could be improved quarterback play. The Hoosiers have yet to announce who the starter will be as a three-man race is still ongoing.
