For much of Wednesday evening, it looked like Indiana may be on the way to a close loss at home against Northwestern.

In the first half of action, the Hoosiers started strong and even pulled away a bit to start the game. Unfortunately, a long dry spell allowed the Wildcats to get back in the game and carry a lead into halftime.

Fortunately, a strong second half and finish down the stretch allowed Indiana to escape with a 66-62 win at home. A big part of that performance was star freshman Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Jackson-Davis finished with a game-high 21 points while shooting 7-for-11 from the floor and 7-for-9 from the free-throw line. He also added seven rebounds, two blocks, an assist, and a steal to his total. He also provided a clutch basket in the final two minutes.

With Indiana clinging to a two-point lead, the Hoosiers called a pick-and-roll with Jackson-Davis and Rob Phinisee. Jackson-Davis’ roll to the basket created just enough space while Phinisee hit him with the lob pass.

The entire play was executed to perfection:

With the win, Indiana moves to 2-2 in B1G play and will next face Ohio State in what should be a big test for the Hoosiers.
