Tom Allen has already lost a member of his offensive line for the season after OT Matthew Bedford had an ACL injury in Week 1. There has now been another injury at the same position group, but not as serious per Zach Osterman and Dustin Dopirak of Indy Star.

Zach Carpenter suffered a hand injury during the Western Kentucky game on Saturday. There is no timetable for his return just yet, but the good news is that it’s not season-ending. Carpenter joined Indiana after transferring from Michigan in Jan. of 2021.

Carpenter has appeared in 5 games so far for the Hoosiers. Last season, he started 3 games at right guard.

Allen stated that he hasn’t seen an injury like Carpenter’s in 30 years, and called it a “freak thing”.

Despite the injuries on the offensive line, Auburn transfer Shaun Shivers has still rushed for 241 yards on the ground with 2 touchdowns.

Indiana faces Cincinnati next away from home Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
