Charlie Jones scores on tightrope TD as Iowa punches back vs. Penn State

Iowa did not start great against Penn State, but the Hawkeyes are fighting back in the second quarter!

Iowa’s defense forced an early turnover by the Nittany Lions in the first quarter. Unfortunately, the Hawkeyes were unable to score a touchdown deep in the red zone and settled for a field goal.

Since then, Penn State had rattled off 17 points as Iowa and quarterback Spencer Petras struggled to get going. Finally, Petras hit a groove halfway through the second quarter, driving Iowa down the field.

He capped that drive off by hitting Charlie Jones on a nice route out into the flat. Jones slipped and nearly fell short of the goal line, but a dive and stretch allowed Jones to hit the pylon for the score.

It’s now 17-10, Penn State, but Iowa is showing signs of life:
