Fran McCaffery made some waves over the weekend, and it wasn’t just for the frenetic nature of Iowa’s historic comeback win over Michigan State.

Just prior to the wild comeback, McCaffery was called for a technical foul while arguing one call in the game. Shortly after the technical, McCaffery called a timeout and engaged in a prolonged staredown with an official near the baseline.

On Monday, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann addressed the incident during his press conference. Holtmann admitted McCaffery’s exchange “was some good TV” and noted Iowa’s head coach “can run hot” but also questioned the official stepping in McCaffery’s direction.

In the end, Holtmann did praise Iowa as a good team and said McCaffery “coaches them really well.”

Regardless of the perception of the incident, it appeared to light a fire under the Hawkeyes. They came back from 10 points down in under a minute to stun Michigan State in an overtime victory.
